Overlay Exacta Plan
The following is a chart that shows a 50% overlay for exactas. You can make a plan
where you only bet the overlay exactas in the races you like. Any race where there
is a horse less than 3-5
pass it. Also no exacta that pays less than $15 is worth playing.
- Print a copy of our DIAMOND REPORT or GOLD REPORT for each track you plan on playing.
This is THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. You MUST print the reports!
- On the reports find 4 to 5 races per track that are most attractive
and draw a line through every horse that is a non-contender (horses with our true odds of 15-1 or higher).
- Find the exactas you are interested in playing in the chart below. Write the overlay exacta
price in the appropriate spot on the report (OL=) for each combo you are interested in.
This should be done in the morning or before you get to the track.
- Using a pencil, write in the exacta will pays (WP=) for each of those (find the screen at the track that has the
exacta will pays).
- Keep track of the ones that qualify as overlays.
- A few minutes before post write in the current will pays. Circle the exactas
that qualify (will pay is equal to or greater than the overlay chart below indicates),
then bet them.
