Exacta Strategy
The exacta wager is a very popular bet, quite possibly the most popular form of exotic wager all time. Very few players, however, use a definitive exacta wagering strategy or plan. Having a solid plan is the foundation of wagering success. This is a fantastic exacta wagering plan that you can add to your supply of successful strategies:
RULE #1 - Pick 2 races a day at your favorite track(s). You should look for races with a minimum of 8 horses or more. 10 or more would be ideal.
RULE #2 - Do not play the race if the favorite is bet down to 8-5 or less.
RULE #3 - Wait as long as possible to place your bet however allow enough time to get your bet in. Don't wait too long or you will be shut out. Keep a close eye on the exacta will pays and keep a notepad with you.
RULE #4 - Races that look very competitive with no heavy favorite are an ideal betting opportunity for this exacta plan. Make it a priority to look for these kind of races as they normally produce generous payouts.
RULE #5 - Only play this bet 2 races per card per track unless you find it profitable to play more. Experiment a bit and takes notes.
RULE #6 - When looking at a potential race be sure to look carefully at the pace shape. Use the Pace Shape Rating on the Diamond or Gold Reports for insight.
RULE #7 - Because we are looking for a nice payoff here do not make the top pick and 2nd pick on the Diamond or Gold Report A-B, B-A (see below) unless those payouts are attractive. When placing this wager always keep a close eye on the exacta will pay screen. Use a notepad to take notes along the way.

A = Either the top pick on our DIAMOND REPORT OR your favorite true odds overlay. Make
sure you have the top pick as either the A or B horse.
B = Either your favorite true odds overlay or the top pick on our DIAMOND REPORT. Make
sure you have the top pick as either the A or B horse.
C = True odds overlay taking ml odds vs. our true odds. Look for a horse on our
DIAMOND or GOLD REPORT that fits the aforementioned odds criteria AND has icons, long comments, etc.
D = The 2nd pick on the DIAMOND or GOLD REPORT OR any horse of your choice. Chances are you already
have the 2nd pick as either your A, B or C horse. If not you might want to use him as your D horse.
L = A longshot in the race that you feel has a shot to sneak into the exacta. The more
you use the sheets the easier it is to spot this type of horse.
Unit = $1, $2 or any amount you designate. If you have a bankroll less than $1000 make $2 a
MAX unit. If your bankroll is less than $500 make $1 your unit.
