The Tampa Trifecta Strategy
The following trifecta strategy was designed for and works fantastic at the Tampa Bay Downs
racetrack using our RacingPicks.com DIAMOND, RAPID DIAMOND or RAPID PLUS reports.
Through testing and research we have found that the Tampa Trifecta Strategy also works
equally as well at these other racetracks and circuits:
Our research has shown us that the 5th pick and 6th on our reports often finish in-the-money
at high odds to make the trifecta pay very well when certain conditions are present.
We like to call them "Logical Longshots" in this situation.
Those conditions involve our Profit Icons on the reports. The Profit Icons we have for
PACE, PAR, TRAINER-A, WORKOUT, FINAL TIME, DISTANCE, WEIGHT OFF, etc, etc, etc.
Criteria #1: When you see
a minimum of 4 or more of the Profit Icons on a 5th pick and 6th pick combined it makes for a
live play in the Tampa Trifecta (Not counting the W or WET icons however)
if the race meets criteria #2 and #3 as well.
Ok - let's make this clear. Do not count these two icons:
as being part of the 4 minimum to qualify on Criteria #1.
Criteria #2: There must be NO Value Odds horses in the race. Obviously if there
are Value Odds horses in the race you would want to focus on those picks.
The Top Pick should have a minimum 3 power point advantage over 2nd pick.
The Strategy: 1 = Top Pick, 2 = 2nd pick, 3 = 3rd pick, 4 = 4th pick,
5 = 5th pick,
6 = 6th pick.
In our strategy below we have the 5th and 6th pick keyed with the Top Pick. The 5th and 6th
pick are keyed 2nd and 3rd with the TP and the other logical picks (2,3,4) filling in the gaps. We also have
a ticket to cover the scenario where the 5th and 6th pick get up at big odds to upset the Top Pick which
- Belmont Park
- Charles Town
- Churchill Downs
- Evangeline Downs
- Gulfstream Park
- Oaklawn Park
- Santa Anita
- Turf Paradise
Eliminations: These are races in which the Tampa Trifecta has lesser than favorable conditions.
In these situations it is suggested that you pass the race.
- $1 Trifecta 1 / 234 / 56 = $6
- $1 Trifecta 1 / 56 / 234 = $6
- $1 Trifecta 56 / 1 / 234 = $6
- $18 TOTAL

- Maiden races that have any first time starters.
- Races where the Top Pick's chances are hindered by the pace shape. For example; His run style
is E (early need to lead) and the Pace Shape Rating of the race is way above 6. Or the opposite -
His run style is S (sustained closer) and
the Pace Shape Rating is below 2, etc, etc.
- Races where the Top Pick might look vulnerable. For example; His days since last
race (LST RCE) are above 100 or even worse 200 or 300!
- Other races where obvious negatives obstruct the Top Pick's normal chance to compete.
