The 6-1 True Odds Angle
Always remember the basic money management rule. Never bet more than 5% of your total bankroll on any one race.
On our Diamond Reports you will notice each horse who has a handicapper analysis also has Our True Odds. Now we have written other articles about overlays in the past. You can find those articles on the Handicapper Digest page. There is one angle we have discovered over the years. This involves horses that have Our True Odds of 6-1. For reasons unknown these horses seem to win as big longshots at a rate more than normal. They are paying $22 to $40 to win and sometimes even A LOT MORE!. At the day of this writing UPDATE: There was a 6-1 True Odds horse at Penn National that won to pay $93.20 last night!. Perhaps there is something in the mindset of the horseplayer that makes a 5-1 shot and a 6-1 shot seem far apart. Now keep in mind this has nothing to do with morning line odds or near post times. It does not even matter if there were scratches in the race. As long as a horse has Our True Odds of exactly 6-1 on our Diamond Reports he deserves a long look. We suggest you read our handicapper analysis of that 6-1 horse carefully. Keep notes on this at the track(s) you play. On the afternoon following the morning we posted this article another 6-1 True Odds bomb horse landed at Monmouth Park to pay $54.20 to win!
