A) Consult the scratches prior to post time and draw a line through the horses who have been withdrawn (scratched). For each horse that is scratched you must move up the rest of the picks. For example if the 4th pick was scratched, the 5th pick becomes the 4th pick and the 6th pick becomes the 5th pick, etc, etc.
B) Maiden races with more than 2 first time starters are not good plays for this strategy. Maiden claiming races are better opportunities than MSW races.
C) Pass a race in which the near post time favorite is less than even money (4/5, 3/5, 2/5, etc). Horses bet down this hard often win or run 2nd and this means the race is of little or no value. Unless you can find a definite solid reason for him being a false favorite pass the race.
D) Races with 8 horses or less do not make good races for the exotics. Actually races with 10 or more horses/betting interests are a good source for bigger payouts. The WIN BET strategy, however, can still be used.
Now we can get down to the wagers. You must complete the A, B, C, D eliminations/adjustments
above before moving on to the wagers. Keep in mind we are using the
RacingPicks.Com GOLD or Rapid Diamond Plus Reports (available to all members) for our strategy. Here we go:
If you have a wagering bankroll of less than $1000 we strongly suggest that you wager conservative until you build your bankroll up. The term bankroll means money you have set aside for wagering. Never bet with money that has been designated to pay bills with!. You will be making win bets and daily double bets only. Let's keep in mind our bankroll management rule of never betting more than 5% of total bankroll on any one race. 2% to 4% of bankroll should comprise most of your action.
WIN BETS - Take a look at OUR TRUE ODDS for the top 4 picks (GROUP A) on our GOLD or Rapid Diamond Plus Reports. You will make a win bet of 4 units (a win bet unit = $2, $3, $4 etc) on the horse who has the best odds near post time. Compare our true odds to odds being offered and only go after the overlays (horses who offer higher odds than our true odds). All experts agree the only way to make long term profit in this game is by wagering on overlays. If you think otherwise try it your way for a while and see how you do. Now take a look at our true odds on picks 5,6 and 7 (GROUP B). Find the best overlay of this group and bet that horse to win 1 unit. Most of you will have $2 = 1 unit so in this example you would wager $8 to win on the horse you select from group 1 and $2 to win on the horse you select from group 2.
DAILY DOUBLE BETS - First of all make sure both races
in the daily double qualify by making your A, B, C, D adjustments. If both races fit
the criteria then here is the play: Bet 1/2 (one half)
unit ($1 base) on picks 1,2,3,4 from the first race of the
double with picks 5,6,7 of the 2nd race in the double (DD 1,2,3,4/5,6,7). This will
cost $12 on your $1 base (1/2 unit). Then take picks 5,6,7 from the first double
race and bet them with picks 1,2,3,4 from the 2nd double race. Again a
$12 bet on a $1 base. This wager will most certainly catch a nice paying double if it hits.
Usually
there won't be much value in a 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4 double however check the daily double
will pays screen. You might want to add the 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4 wager if you see some
nice payouts there.
If you have a wagering bankroll of $1,000 to $2000 we strongly suggest that you wager conservative and/or mild conservative. This means you will be making win bets, daily double bets and or pick 3 bets only. Let's keep in mind our bankroll management rule of never betting more than 5% of total bankroll on any one race.
PICK 3 BETS - Also known as Multiple Win Exotics. Possibly the best wager in the sport of kings. The takeout is spread over 3 races and the payout is usually better than a parlay. Make sure all 3 races qualify after making the A, B, C, D adjustments as usual. To bet picks 1,2,3,4 in all 3 races makes sense however the payout will most likely be on the light side (there are exceptions - see below). To keep a good balance yet get a chance at a very nice payout use picks 5,6,7 in one leg of the pick 3. Examine the 3 races and see which race picks 5,6,7 look the strongest. Take those picks 5,6,7 and play the pick 3 using picks 1,2,3,4 in the other 2 legs of the pick 3 for 1/2 unit ($1). This will cost $48 on the $1 base (1/2 unit). You can do a 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4 wager if the odds seem favorable.
Please note: You can also play exactas and still be mild conservative. See the exacta
bets in the next category.
If you have a wagering bankroll of $2,000 to $5000 we strongly suggest that you wager conservative, mild conservative and or light exotics. This means you will be making win bets, daily double bets pick 3 bets, exacta bets and/or trifecta bets only. Let's keep in mind our bankroll management rule of never betting more than 5% of total bankroll on any one race.
EXACTA BETS - The exacta bet can be very rewarding if played correctly. This means playing
for nice payouts with a balanced percentage of winners. First make the A, B, C, D adjustments
as usual. The exacta plan goes like this: Bet picks 1,2,3,4 (in the top slot)
with picks 5,6,7
(in the 2nd slot) for 1 unit. Catching the a top 4 pick over a 5,6,7 pick usually means a
very generous exacta payout and hits with surprising frequency.
This will be $24 on a $2 unit (1,2,3,4/5,6,7). Many times picks 1,2,3,4 will make
up the exacta but most
of the time the payout is low and not worth playing. Keep an eye on the
exacta will pays screen,
however, and see if there is any value within picks 1,2,3,4.
Also if you think picks 5,6,7 have a good shot to upset
the apple cart then also play a 5,6,7/1,2,3,4 for a half untit ($1). These exacta bets are usually
more generous in races with bigger fields. Finding a nice race with 10 or more horses is ideal.
Here again, keep a close eye on the exacta will pays screen. You have the advantage of being able
to see the payouts in this single race exotic so take advantage of that!.
TRIFECTA BETS - You can catch some very nice payoffs with this wager if you are
precise and careful with your action. First make the A, B, C, D adjustments
as usual. Let's go to trifecta land: Bet picks 1,2,3,4 with 5,6,7 with 1,2,3,4
(1,2,3,4/5,6,7/1,2,3,4)
for 1
unit ($2). In this bet we are playing picks 1,2,3,4 on top with picks 5,6,7 for second and
picks 1,2,3,4 for 3rd. In getting a likely higher priced horse from picks 5,6,7 to split the
trifecta makes
the opportunity for a generous payout. This will cost $72 on a $2 base or $36 on a $1 base.
If you see some value in picks 1,2,3,4 then also make a half unit ($1) wager on
1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4/5,6,7. Experiment with what seems to work better at the track(s) you play.
You might find the 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4/5,6,7 to be a better play at your circuit. Take notes
and records. If you are investing this kind of money in a race we strongly suggest you be
aware of the nuances and bias of your track. Normally when the trifecta comes out of
picks 1,2,3,4 the payout is not attractive so that is why we don't go after it. There
are exceptions to every rule and if you are sharp they will be apparent to you.
If you have a wagering bankroll of $5,000 to $10,000 we strongly suggest that you wager conservative, mild conservative, light exotics and/or medium exotics. This means you will be making win bets, daily double bets pick 3 bets, exacta bets, trifecta bets and/or superfecta & pick 4 bets only. Let's keep in mind our bankroll management rule of never betting more than 5% of total bankroll on any one race (or one bet).
SUPERFECTA BETS - You can catch some AWESOME payoffs with this wager if you are precise and careful with your action. Many times a trifecta will pay a few hundred but the superfecta in the same race will pay a few thousand!. First make the A, B, C, D adjustments as usual. Let's go hit a homerun: Bet picks 1,2,3,4 with 5,6,7 with 1,2,3,4 with 1,2,3,4 (1,2,3,4/5,6,7/1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4) for one half unit ($1). In this bet we are putting picks 5,6,7 in the 2nd slot of the superfecta and picks 1,2,3,4 in the top, 3rd and bottom slot. This will cost $72 on the $1 base. Take a good look at the race and you might also want to to play a 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4/5,6,7/1,2,3,4 (putting the 5,6,7 in the 3rd spot). You might find the 1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4/5,6,7/1,2,3,4 to be a better play at your circuit. Take notes and records. If you are investing this kind of money in a race we strongly suggest you be aware of the nuances and bias of your track. PICK 4 BETS - A Multiple Win Exotics bet like the pick 3 however the payouts are incredible. The
pick 4 is to the pick 3 what the superfecta is to the trifecta as far as value is concerned.
First make the A, B, C, D adjustments
as usual. Ok it's pick 4 time:
To bet picks 1,2,3,4 in all 4 races is actually not a bad bet if you can swallow the
$256 it costs for a $1 base wager and only if the odds have value.
A better approach to this wager would be to
cut down on the horses played in some races and at the same time shoot for value.
To keep a good balance yet get a chance at a very
nice payout use picks 5,6,7 in two legs of the pick 4. Examine the 4 races and
see which 2 races picks 5,6,7 look the strongest. Take those picks 5,6,7 and play the
pick 4 using picks 1,2,3,4 in the other 2 legs of the pick 4 for 1/2 unit ($1).
This will cost $144 on the $1 base (1/2 unit). You can mix and match the picks but just make sure
you are picking horses from group 1 and 2 only.
Let's keep in mind our bankroll management
rule of never betting more than 5% of total bankroll on any
one race.
